On the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide committed by the Ottoman Empire, President of Greece Konstantinos Tasoulas paid tribute to the memory of the one and a half million victims, describing it as one of the most atrocious crimes against humanity.

He stated that remembrance is a non-negotiable duty, both toward the victims and toward historical truth, so that oblivion does not become a cause of revisionism, violence, and intolerance.

Tasoulas noted that Greece and Armenia are connected by enduring ties, forged through shared trials, as well as through a stable relationship of solidarity, friendship, and mutual respect.

He also stressed that in today’s international environment, marked by crises, conflicts, and uncertainties, commitment to peace, dialogue, and cooperation among peoples has become even more urgent.

“The memory of history requires constant vigilance so that the tragic events of the past are never repeated,” he emphasized.
