The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, has stated that thanks to the peace with Azerbaijan, Armenia can become a transit country for the first time in its independent history, although it is not yet such a country.
“Thanks to that, we will be able to establish a direct connection between the main part of Azerbaijan and our exclave, the Autonomous Republic of Nakhichevan,” Aliyev said.
According to him, after the establishment of peace with Armenia, “we are closely working towards the expansion of the “Middle Corridor”, which also passes through the territory of Armenia.”
Aliyev noted that the demand for cargo transportation through the territory of Azerbaijan is growing. He emphasized that the disruption of transport connections as a result of conflicts creates an extremely difficult situation for most of the international community.
According to the leader of Azerbaijan, Baku and Yerevan achieved peace not only on paper. “the borders are calm, trade ties are established” and “long-term peace is sealed for centuries”.
