Opposition: Let Lavrov know that negotiator has no mandate behind closed doors

Armenia – June 8 2022

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov arrived in Armenia today to participate in the session of the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers. Deputy Speaker of the Armenian Parliament from the opposition Ishkhan Saghatelyan wrote about it on his Facebook page.

He noted in particular:

"The Armenian people have already formed their own agenda, which today is discussed and defended in the streets, squares of Armenia and presented to the international community, including arriving international partners. The priorities emanating from the vital interests of our people have nothing in common with the agenda negotiated behind closed doors by the Armenian authorities.

That's why we will gather tomorrow, 9 June, at 09:00 on France Square to once again raise the voice of our people and inform our strategic ally that the person who negotiates with them behind closed doors from a loser's perspective does not express the will of the Armenian people and therefore has no mandate to conduct any process on our behalf,” he said.

Azerbaijan MFA calls Armenian Prosecutor General’s visit to Artsakh ‘illegal’

Armenia – June 8 2022

Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry called the visit of the Armenian Prosecutor General to Artsakh "illegal."

According to APA, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry described the visit as "a step directed against the sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of internationally recognized borders of the Republic of Azerbaijan, not only violates the fundamental norms and principles of international law but also seriously damages the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the post-conflict period, including the efforts to establish peace and security in the region."

"This irresponsible and provocative step by the Armenian side once again demonstrates that this country is not sincere in its normalization process, including throwing a shadow over the efforts of international mediators. I would like to emphasize that all responsibility for this provocative step lies with the Armenian side," the statement says.

Kardashians have worked hard to stay in touch with their Armenian roots

Kourtney, Kim, Khloe and Rob Kardashian are very proud of their Armenian heritage and have done their best to stay in touch with their roots.

If you follow the Kardashians, one of the many things you’ll know about them is that they’re Armenian.

From their trips to Armenia to their discussions of Armenian culture on their show, Kourtney, 43, Kim, 41, Khloe, 37, and Rob, 35, certainly stay connected to their heritage.

Whilst their mother Kris Jenner is reportedly of English, Irish, Dutch, German, and Scottish descent, the Kardashian siblings get their Armenian blood from their late father Robert Kardashian Sr.

Speaking about her heritage, Kim said: “My Armenian heritage means a lot to me and I’ve been brought up to be incredibly proud of my family’s background and culture.”

The 41 year old and her children have also been baptised in Armenia.

Posting pictures of her and North in 2019, the mother of four wrote: “Thank you Armenia for such a memorable trip.

“So blessed to have been baptized along with my babies at Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, Armenia’s main cathedral which is sometimes referred to as the Vatican of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

“This church was built in 303 AD.”

Opening up about her time in Armenia, Kourtney wrote on her lifestyle brand Poosh: “A big part of this trip was visiting the Etchmiadzin Cathedral, and getting our kids baptized there.

“It’s not only the first-ever church in Armenia, but is thought to be the first-ever cathedral in the world because Armenia was the first nation to adopt Christianity.

“It was such a powerful feeling being there. The story behind it is that St. Gregory The Illuminator received a message from God to build the first cathedral in that very spot, and so it’s remained ever since.”

She added: “It has such a solid framework that they’ve only recently begun restructuring it, which is so cool and crazy to me. Having the kids baptized there made us feel reverent and humble, and like the right way to help our kids honor their roots.”

Back in 2015, Khloe and Kim also embarked on a trip to Armenia and visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial.

Writing under her 2015 post, Khloe said: “Today marks the 102-year anniversary of the Armenian genocide. In 1915, the Ottoman Empire committed mass extermination of 1.5 million Western Armenians.

“I am proud to be an Armenian!!!”

GLASGOW, June 8 (Reuters) – Scotland began their Nations League campaign with a 2-0 win over Armenia on Wednesday as Anthony Ralston and Scott McKenna scored their first international goals.

Scotland dominated the game and took the lead through Ralston when he made a run to the far post where the wing back — making his full debut — connected with Stuart Armstrong's cross to head the ball across goal and into the net.

Defender Scott McKenna struck five minutes before halftime with a towering header from John McGinn's corner and he also had an effort from point-blank range ruled out by VAR for an offside in the build-up.

Scotland moved on to three points in Group 1 of League B — the same as Armenia and Ukraine, who beat Ireland in Dublin.

In an interview to ARMENPRESS, the Bundestag MP said Germany supports the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship in the negotiations over the NK conflict.

“As a member of the Minsk Group, Germany supports the efforts of the Minsk Group Co-Chairs in the negotiations for the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, taking into account also the military clashes which started between Armenia and Azerbaijan in 2020 and lasted until November. Germany believes that it is necessary to find a political solution to the conflict. YEREVAN, JUNE 8, ARMENPRESS. In a new report adopted on June 7, the European Parliament urged Turkey to recognize the Armenian Genocide and respect its obligations to protect Armenian and other cultural heritage.

The report, adopted by 448 votes in favour, 67 against and 107 abstentions, also touched upon the recent efforts aimed at normalizing the relations between Armenia and Turkey. It says that the European Parliament “commends the recent rapprochement between Turkey and Armenia with regard to the decision to start bilateral contacts, the appointment of special representatives and the resumption of flights between the two countries”. The EP “considers this attempt a highly positive development which has a positive impact on prosperity and security in the region; encourages both sides to pursue these efforts with a view to fully normalizing their relations and calls for the EU to actively support this process”.

MEPs also encouraged Turkey to pave the way for genuine reconciliation between the Turkish and Armenian peoples, including settling the dispute of the Armenian Genocide, and to fully respect its obligations to protect Armenian and other cultural heritage. They expressed the hope that this may lead to a dynamic of normalization of relations in the South Caucasus.

The European Parliament encouraged Turkey, once again, to recognize the Armenian Genocide.

In the report, MEPs warned that in spite of Turkey’s repeated statements that it aims to become an EU member, over the past two years the country has consistently gone back on its commitments in relation to the accession process.

The report pointed to the continued deterioration of the human rights situation in Turkey.

MEPs also called on the Turkish government to handle Finland and Sweden’s NATO membership applications in good faith, to engage constructively in efforts to solve possible outstanding issues and to refrain from exerting any undue pressure in this process.
