YEREVAN, JUNE 3, ARMENPRESS. Speaker of Parliament of Armenia Alen Simonyan received today the delegation led by Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport Anahit Hakobyan of the Artsakh Republic, the Parliament’s press service said.

Welcoming the Minister, the Speaker of Parliament expressed his gratitude for the close cooperation formed between the similar Committees engaged with education and science of Armenia and Artsakh. According to Alen Simonyan, the development of the science sphere on the basis of that cooperation, the solution of the humanitarian issues, the legislative reforms, the protection of the historical-cultural and spiritual values on the territories passed under the control of Azerbaijan because of war in Artsakh and the educational programs being implemented in the IT sphere of Artsakh.

Highlighting the regular meetings with the colleagues of Artsakh, Alen Simonyan mentioned some details of the last joint discussion, according to which, today Azerbaijan tries to eliminate the traces of the Armenian records from the historical-architectural monuments. The Head of the legislative body added that big work should be done in terms of presenting this problem to the international community.

Alen Simonyan highlighted the role and importance of education in the current situation, on which the further discussion was developed.

The Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport Anahit Hakobyan of the Artsakh Republic evaluated the bilateral cooperation in all spheres, especially in terms of the elaboration of the educational strategy program, the legislative reforms of the sphere and the cultural cooperation.

The meeting was also attended by the Chair of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport Sisak Gabrielyan and the Committee members and the Chair of the Artsakh Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Aram Harutyunyan.

YEREVAN, JUNE 3, ARMENPRESS. Genesis Armenia think tank/foundation and RELQ technology school are jointly launching a large-scale project “Reintegration through Education” which will allow the 44-day war participants (primarily those who became disabled) to be reintegrated into society through quality education and social-psychological support.

With the support of the Armenian Fund of France and the material support of numerous donors, Genesis Armenia and RELQ technology school will provide the program participants with an opportunity to become competitive IT specialists after passing the 6-month intensive training courses.

The beneficiaries will have a chance to enter into IT labor market (including global) with high professional knowledge, communication, negotiating, management and teamwork skills.

The project will launch in August 2022 after a detailed selection of participants and trainers.

In a statement Genesis Armenia and RELQ foundations said they will make new initiatives for the rehabilitation of war participants.

To participate in the program, applicants will have to pass selection stages, then a final selection will be made to form the respective group.

YEREVAN, JUNE 3, ARMENPRESS. The presentation of the Spanish section of ARMENPRESS state news agency and the discussion of issues on further deepening the cooperation with the leading partner EFE were the main goals of the recent visit of Director of ARMENPRESS Narine Nazaryan to Madrid.

The meetings in Spain, which were organized by the efforts of the Embassy of Armenia, were aimed at presenting the broader Spanish-speaking circles that the agency already added the 6th foreign language, which translates the news under a variety of headings, from official news up to important political issues, from economic news to public, cultural, sports news and the coverage of activities of Diaspora-Armenian communities.

During the meeting with Emilio Crespo, the international cooperation coordinator at EFE news agency, the Spanish language service of ARMENPRESS was presented, the prospects of putting the Memorandum of Understanding signed between ARMENPRESS and EFE in 2017 on practical basis and developing the effective cooperation for the exchange of information were discussed.

“The idea of filling the gap in information about Armenia and Armenians in the Spanish-speaking world has united devotees who appreciate the importance of spreading accurate, reliable and positive news. At the initiative of Ambassador of Armenia to Argentina Hovhannes Virabyan, the process of translations launched with the involvement of the Siranoush and Boghos Arzoumanian Foundation in Buenos Aires, presenting it in Armenian-populated communities of Latin America, in Buenos Aires and Montevideo, and also, thanks to the efforts of Ambassador of Armenia to Spain Sos Avetisyan, raising awareness on the launched website among Spanish media outlets and readers. We highly appreciate the meetings held, it was emphasized during those meetings how important the publication of news in Spanish is, which is the official language of 20 countries and has more than 500 million speakers. ARMENPRESS could become a reliable source of information for the Spanish-speaking media field, by keeping the golden rules of providing professional, reliable and comprehensive news”, the Director of ARMENPRESS Narine Nazaryan said, summing up the results of her recent visit.  

The meeting with the representatives of the Armenian community in the Armenian Embassy in Spain was attended by representatives of AGBU Young Professionals program Tiran Kilikian (Madrid), Nanor Demirdjian, Levon Grigorian (Barcelona), Luiza Grigorian, representative of the Armenian Association of Canary Islands Davit Hovhannisian (Santa Cruz de Tenerife), Enterprise Armenia’s Spain representative Vahe Papian (San Sebastián), and expert on international studies Hayk Kasmanian (Málaga).

Narine Nazaryan inquired from the active representatives of the community about the opportunities provided by latest technology tools to deliver the content on Armenia to a broader Spanish-speaking audience, the necessity of activating informative materials about the Diaspora, and discussed the ways of further intensifying the ties.

The Spanish guests were representing media outlets and educational, creative organizations. They were interested in the goals of spreading the Spanish language content of ARMENPRESS, the history of ARMENPRESS and its activities.

“The visit and the discussions were productive in terms of identifying the interests of the audience. In our work we attach great importance to ensuring feedback, the necessity of having a diversified media product. Such meetings are a rich experience and guidelines for the future work”, Narine Nazaryan said.

Armenia highly appreciates the cooperation with the European Union, Vice Speaker of Parliament Ruben Rubinyan said during the meeting with the delegation led by the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia Toivo Klaar, the Parliament’s press service said.

The Head of the EU Delegation to the Republic of Armenia, Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin was also present at the meeting.

The sides exchanged ideas on the settlement process of the relations between Armenia and Turkey. Ruben Rubinyan presented the positions and the priorities of the Republic of Armenia.

Toivo Klaar underlined that the EU is interested in promoting the advancement of the process.

The interlocutors discussed the regional situation, highlighted the establishment of peace and stability in the South Caucasus.

YEREVAN, JUNE 3, ARMENPRESS. The emergency session of the Parliament of Armenia convened at the request of the opposition lawmakers didn’t take place because of the absence of quorum.

33 MPs were registered for the session.

The members of the ruling Civil Contract faction earlier announced that they will not take part in the session.

The agenda includes one item – the draft statement drafted by opposition Hayastan and Pativ Unem factions titled “On the Occasion of the Armenian-Azerbaijani and Armenian-Turkish Relations”.

Despite the absence of quorum, the opposition lawmakers didn’t leave the session hall. MP from Hayastan faction Aram Vardevanyan approached the tribune and read the text of the statement without a speaker, which was followed by applauds of the opposition lawmakers.

YEREVAN, JUNE 3, ARMENPRESS. On June 1, 2022 the closing ceremony of “Future Seeds” program took place online due to the limitations of the Covid19 in the country.

The greeting and motivational speeches were held by RA Deputy Minister of Education and Science Mr. Arthur Martirosyan, Director of "Union of Operators of Armenia" NGO, ASUE "Information Technologies in Business" Program Manager, Lecturer, Kristine Gyonjyan, Arpinet Company Development Director, Lilit Bdoyan and Huawei Technologies Armenia company Director Mr. Chen Liang.

Mr. Martirosyan greeted the participants of the training:

"I think you will agree on the importance of digitalization, the profession of digitalization in the education system, or in various spheres of public life in general.

Digitalization tools are currently being actively introduced in the education system in Armenia, both to combat the epidemic and to ensure access to quality education in general.

At present, we have specialists in the field of digitalization, not only in education, but also in various spheres of public life in our country, which will contribute to the implementation of transparent participatory procedures.

The guests were introduced on the history of the foundation of the University, its main activity directions and educational programs.

Head of the National Defense Research University, Major-General Genadi Tavaratsyan and the Greek Deputy Defense Minister highlighted the development of the Armenian-Greek friendly ties and mutual partnership, including in the field of military education.

EU highlights deepening of relations with Armenia – PM Pashinyan receives EU Special Representative Toivo Klaar

YEREVAN, JUNE 3, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan received EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia Toivo Klaar, ARMENPRESS was informed from the Office of the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister praised the Armenia-EU partnership, highly appreciating the efforts of the EU and European Council President Charles Michel for regional stability. In the context of regional peace and the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Nikol Pashinyan stressed the importance of the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs.

Toivo Klaar noted that the European Union attaches importance to the deepening of cooperation with Armenia and supports regional dialogue.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the implementation of the agreements reached as a result of the Brussels meetings. Issues related to the work of the Delimitation and Border Security Commission and the unblocking of regional infrastructure were touched upon.

YEREVAN, JUNE 3, ARMENPRESS. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian discussed the Iran nuclear deal during a telephone conversation, as well as referred to Ukraine, ARMENPRESS reports citing RIA Novosti, the Russian Foreign Ministry informed.

The phone conversation took place at the initiative of the Iranian side.

"The main focus was on the resumption of talks on Iran's nuclear program, as well as the meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors to be held on June 6, 2022," the statement said.
