YEREVAN, JUNE 27, ARMENPRESS. Rain with thunderstorm is forecast in Armenia’s capital of Yerevan after the daytime of June 27, on June 28-30 and on July 1-2 in the evening hours, the ministry of environment said.

Air temperature across the Republic will gradually rise by 6-9 degrees on June 27-30.

As for the weather in Artsakh, no precipitation is expected in the Republic on June 27 and 28.

Armenian PM’s spouse attends event marking 35th anniversary of foundation of Parsamian College in Nice, France

YEREVAN, JUNE 27, ARMENPRESS. On June 26 Anna Hakobyan, the spouse of the Armenian prime minister, was hosted at the Parsamian cultural complex in Nice on the sidelines of her visit in France. She was accompanied by High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of Armenia Zareh Sinanyan, Anna Hakobyan’s Office said.

The PM’s spouse toured the college, got acquainted with the history of the foundation of school, the key events and traditions.

The Parsamian College is celebrating this year the 35th anniversary of its foundation. 85 students study in the College now. The school has maintained the entire component of the Armenian language.

Anna Hakobyan had a meeting with the executives of the College, the representatives of the community, and members of Parliament. The exchange of views was followed by an event marking the 35th anniversary of the foundation of the College.

The leadership of the College thanked Anna Hakobyan for accepting the invitation to participate in the event, highlighting the importance of her visit both for the College and the Armenian community of Nice.

In his remarks Member of Parliament Éric Ciotti said his close ties with the Armenian community have a history of decades. He expressed hope that the Armenian-French ties will further intensify thanks to the current leadership of Armenia. “In 2018 we were closely following the events in Armenia. What the Armenian people did led by Mr. Pashinyan was a major step of democracy”, he said.

In her turn Anna Hakobyan said that the Armenian community of France with its rich history and heritage, high reputation within the French society, is one of the most important communities of the Diaspora.

“When I received the invitation on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the foundation of the Parsamian College, I couldn’t reject it because any topic connected with education is familiar and close to me. Parsamian College is really unique: being a French public school, it keeps the entire component of Armenian education while teaching, starting from Armenian language up to Armenian culture, song, dance and theater”, Anna Hakobyan said.

She highlighted the fact that the first congress of Armenian schools of Diaspora was held in the Parsamian College.

“Let us once again express our gratitude to the founder philanthropists of the school – Thoros, Lucy and Suzanne Parsamian. Let there be many such significant jubilees in the Armenian community of Côte d’Azur, let Armenian topics always remain on agenda and be discussed in the native language”, Anna Hakobyan said, expressing hope that their next meeting will take place in Yerevan.

YEREVAN, JUNE 27, ARMENPRESS. On May 21-27, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh David Babayan was on a working visit to the Russian Federation, the ministry said.

In Moscow and a number of other cities, the Foreign Minister of Artsakh had meetings with representatives of political, information, public, scientific-educational circles, the Armenian community of Russia and the Armenian Apostolic Church.

Issues related to the current situation and possible developments in the region, the role of Artsakh in regional geopolitical processes, the prospects for the settlement of the Azerbaijan-Karabakh conflict, and further deepening of the Artsakh-Diaspora relations were discussed.

PM chairs meeting on process of education reforms

YEREVAN, JUNE 27, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan chaired a consultation today relating to the agenda and process of education reforms, the PM’s Office said.

Issues relating to the development of strategy in education sector and in this context the higher, professional education and general education reforms were discussed.

The meeting participants touched upon the regulations proposed by the draft law on Higher Education and Science, the criteria for the quality of higher education and the strategic guidelines, the study opportunities in foreign languages and other topics. The process of reform of professional education was presented. The works launched in general education field were discussed.

Prime Minister Pashinyan said education reform is one of the absolute priorities of the government, highlighting the need to go to strategic solutions in this area. He added that it is necessary to intensively continue the discussions on education strategy, focusing on solving issues of forming education content, physical infrastructure and high-quality professional staff.

Armenia’s economic activity index grows 10.2% in five months

YEREVAN, JUNE 27, ARMENPRESS. Armenia’s economic activity index increased by 10.2% in January-May 2022 compared to January-May 2021, the Statistical Committee said.

The industrial production volume increased by 2.7%, that of construction by 11.4% in January-May 2022 compared to the same period of 2021.

8.9% increase was registered in trade turnover in the same period.

The services volume recorded 24.9% increase.

The consumer price index increased by 7.7% in January-May 2022.

The index of industrial production prices increased by 9.6%, and the electricity production volume by 13.1%.

36.6% increase was registered in external trade turnover volumes. The export growth comprised 27.5%, and the import growth – 42.2%.

The dram exchange rate against the US dollar comprised 477.34 drams in January-May 2022.

Armenian, Greek FMs sign Memorandum of Understanding

YEREVAN, JUNE 27, ARMENPRESS. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan met with his Greek counterpart Nikos Dendias in Athens during his working visit.

The bilateral relations, the latest developments in the Caucasian region, as well as the situation in Ukraine were on the agenda of the meeting.

The Greek foreign ministry said that the sides reaffirmed the Armenian-Greek friendship and firm historical ties, as well as talked about the bilateral cooperation.

Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation on EU-related matters was signed between the Armenian and Greek Foreign Ministries during the meeting, the Greek Foreign Ministry said on Twitter.

Moscow Stock Exchange starts trading in Armenian dram

YEREVAN, JUNE 27, ARMENPRESS. The Moscow Stock Exchange (MOEX) has started trading with the Armenian dram today, TASS reports.

Trading participants and clients have access to spot and swap tools for the following currency pairs: Armenian dram – Russian ruble (AMD/RUB), US dollar – Armenian dram (USD/AMD), South African rand – Russian ruble (ZAR/RUB), US dollar – South African rand (USD/ZAR).

The MOEX is expected to later announce trading in the Uzbek sums – Russian ruble (UZS/RUB), UAE dirham – Russian ruble (AED/RUB) and US dollar – UAE dirham (USD/AED).

International Center for Standardization and Certification “HALAL” to be established in Armenia

YEREVAN, JUNE 27, ARMENPRESS. The International Center for Standardization and Certification “HALAL” is expected to be established in Armenia for boosting the export process of local production.

Today, on June 27, the specialists of the ICSC HALAL met with Armenian business community representatives in the ministry of economy.

“The cooperation with the Center will provide local manufacturers with an opportunity to export the local production to the Eastern market and have new partners”, Head of the Department of Development of Quality Infrastructure at the Ministry of Economy of Armenia Zhanna Zakaryan said.

The Center carries out certification of products and services, including for trade and public food.

“Certification will be provided for meat products, poultry, fish, milk, dairy products, bakery, confectionery, food additives, other food, healthcare and perfumes, cosmetics, tourism, spa services, hairdressing, fitness and taxi services”, Aidar Gazizov, Director General ICSC HALAL said.

HALAL Center is a leading certification body in Russia and abroad. The Center is operating since 2002. It has already established partnering relations with the manufacturers of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan. More than 40 companies are currently exporting their production to the countries of Middle East – the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iran, through the Center.
