GYUMRI, FEBRUARY 13, ARMENPRESS. An oxygen station and a new x-ray contrast computed tomography cabinet were put into operation at the Gyumri Medical Center. As reported “Armenpress”, the hospital acquired a 100 million worth oxygen generator that can produce 240 cylinders of oxygen. The oxygen station was established as a result of a joint project with the Ministry of Health.
It will satisfy not only Gyumri Medical Center, but also other hospitals of the republic. The oxygen station is a necessity during the treatment of the coronavirus.
“In 2020, when the Covid department was opened, we had a serious problem of providing oxygen, because the ability to provide oxygen in the region is 140-170 cylinders, and we started using 200 or more cylinders, there were days, even 270 cylinders. Now this device is already able to produce 240 cylinders of oxygen per day. The station is also there and recharging. In other words, the region will no longer have a problem. If necessary, we can supply to other marzes,” said Armen Isahakyan, director of the MC, in a conversation with journalists.
The establishment of a new x-ray contrast computed tomography cabinet will enable the effective implementation of the stroke program in the Gyumri Medical Center. The new tomographic equipment was acquired by the center within the framework of the leasing program. The availability of the equipment will enable the population of the region to undergo a number of urgent examinations in Gyumri and not reach the capital. Armen Isahakyan mentioned that from the first day he became the director, he wanted the Gyumri resident to stay and be treated on the spot. “And this new device will make it possible to implement a new life-saving program in the center from April-May, and the patient who suffered a stroke, for example, will not be brought to the capital. On the spot, the vessel will be examined very quickly, the treatment will be organized quickly,” said Armen Isahakyan.
The tomographic equipment is just being put into operation, but there are already patients registered with contrast material. Every month, 10-15 patients are referred to the capital from “Gyumri” medical center for that examination, it is about 200 people a year. They will not go now, they will be investigated in Gyumri. This number does not include those who went to Yerevan on their own and are from different communities of Shirak marz.
“Moving to Yerevan is very expensive. We decided to install a credit, leasing tomography device. It is an expensive device, but we hope that the cabinet will solve this problem,” said Armen Isahakyan.
