MORE than 3,000 Armenian soldiers were killed during the war with Azerbaijan over the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh territory, according to Health Ministry spokeswoman Alina Nikogossian on Saturday.

Forensic medical teams had examined 3,300 corpses of soldiers to determine their identities, she said with 436 identified in the past 10 days.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has faced a public backlash and calls for him to resign after conceding large amounts of territory as part of a ceasefire agreement brokered by Russia in November.

Azeri forces were accused of war crimes including the use of banned cluster munitions on civilian populations in the regional capital Stepanakert.

Its soldiers were accused of a number of sickening beheadings with footage of the incidents circulating on social media.

Armenia announced a six-month ban on Turkish goods yesterday over its support for Azerbaijan during the conflict. Turkey sent soldiers and thousands of jihadists to Nagorno-Karabakh to fight alongside Azeri troops.

The Armenian Ministry of Economy said: “The import ban will not lead to an increase in prices in the country, because Turkish goods are not dominant, as imports from Russia, Belarus, Iran and China can replace them.”

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
