Artsakh continues searching for bodies of war victims

STEPANAKERT, DECEMBER 22, ARMENPRESS. The bodies of 8 killed servicemen were found during search operations in Martuni, Hadrut, Jabrayil and Fizuli, the State Service of Emergency Situations of Artsakh said.

So far, a total of 1047 bodies have been retrieved.

The search operations continue in Hadrut, Jabrayil and Shushi directions.

Leader of anti-Pashinyan protests calls on police and military to endorse them

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 22, ARMENPRESS. The opposition Homeland Salvation Movement has called upon the military and the police to join them in demanding Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s resignation.

“I am calling on the army to immediately join our people with a statement, I am calling on the police to immediately join our people with a statement. Every hour matters,” former Prime Minister Vazgen Manukyan told a crowd of supporters who gathered in central Yerevan where they’ve declared a strike.

Manukyan is the Homeland Salvation Movement’s candidate for interim prime minister.

The movement was started by 16 political parties (1 parliamentary and 15 non-parliamentary).

Artsakh Ombudsman resigns, to assume another position in public administration system

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 22, ARMENPRESS. Ombudsman of Artsakh Artak Beglaryan has submitted a resignation letter to the Speaker of Parliament on December 22.

Beglaryan said on social media that his decision is connected with assuming another position in the public administration system.

ECHR approves request on applying interim measure against Azerbaijan over 62 captured servicemen

On 18 December, immediately after the meeting of the Representative of the Republic of Armenia before the ECHR Yeghishe Kirakosyan with the relatives of 62 servicemen captured in Khtsaberd, which took place in Gyumri, another request for indication of interim measure against Azerbaijan on behalf of 53 servicemen was prepared and lodged by the Office of the Representative to ECHR, along with supporting evidentiary materials. Important to note, that attorneys have already submitted interim measure request for 9 servicemen out of 63.

On December 21, the ECHR granted the request submitted by the Government of the Republic of Armenia, requesting the Government of Azerbaijan to provide information on prisoners of war, their medical documents, and information on the terms of their exchange by 28 December.

Anti-Pashinyan protest leader calls for blocking government, prosecution headquarters

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 22, ARMENPRESS. The Homeland Salvation Movement told their supporters to block the government headquarters and the general prosecution building in central Yerevan.

The movement is holding a strike and a rally at the Republic Square.

“A part of the people stays here, while others block the government and prosecution buildings, because we don’t need this government’s activities any more. We won’t give in to provocations, don’t attempt to enter this building, because we don’t need that now. We must take the entire state system from Nikol Pashinyan,” Ishkhan Saghatelyan, one of the leading figures of the movement, told the protesters.

Families of missing servicemen hold protest outside Russian Embassy in Armenia

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 22, ARMENPRESS. Families of missing Armenian servicemen held a protest today outside the Russian Embassy in Yerevan.

They expect that the Embassy should have provided them today with data which would enable them to know whether their sons are currently in the Azerbaijani captivity or not.

The parents of missing soldiers also expect Russia to mediate in conducting search operations also in Hadrut region.

Court overrules arrest of Goris mayor

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 22, ARMENPRESS. The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction has overruled the arrest of the Mayor of Goris Arush Arushanyan, his lawyer Armen Melkonyan told reporters.

“The court ruled that his arrest is unlawful,” Melkonyan said, adding that the mayor will soon be released from custody.

Arushanyan was arrested on December 21 on suspicion of organizing illegal rallies.

  3. Don’t provide the number, copy or photo of your passport, bank card details or other secret information to unknown websites.
  4. Before making a transfer, please check well all the details, even if they write to you from your friend’s or relative’s account.

EUR exchange rate up by 2.10 drams to 637.06 drams. Russian Ruble exchange rate down by 0.04 drams to 6.91 drams. GBP exchange rate up by 10.06 drams to 699.49 drams.

The Central Bank has set the following prices for precious metals.

Armenian Defense Minister visits brigade of peacekeeping forces of the Ministry of Defense

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 22, ARMENPRESS. Defense Minister of Armenia Vagharshak Harutyunyan visited the brigade of peacekeeping forces of the Ministry of Defense on December 22.

As ARMENPRESS was informed from the press service of the Defense Ministry of Armenia, the Commander of the Brigade, Major-General Artak Tonoyan presented to the Defense Minister the organizationsal and structural paticularities of the brigade and the functions of the humanitarian peacekeeping missions carried out within the framework of the international cooperation.

Highly assessing the mission of the peacekeepig brigade, Vagharshak Harutyunyan gave concrete tasks to the command staff of the brigade, outlined the upcoming work priorities.

During the visit the Minister of Defense toured in the territory of the military unit, got acquainted with the conditions of the military unit's barracks, weapons and classrooms.
