“For us, the entire Armenian people is the elite. [Nikol] Pashinyan once again resorted to manipulation and tried to split up the society,” opposition Homeland Party leader Artur Vanetsyan told reporters at a “march of dignity” demanding the Armenian prime minister’s resignation in Yerevan on Thursday, referring to Pashinyan’s remarks that “the elite wants to seize power” in Armenia.

He stressed that Pashinyan cannot remain in power through manipulation and another split in society.

“No one says that it’s not for people to form a government. It’s true, the government should be formed by free _expression_ of the will of people, but over two and a half years, especially since the beginning of the war, Pashinyan has proved that he is not able to ensure the security of our country and people. Therefore, we urge Pashinyan to leave and to give way to those who can ensure the security of our people and country, who can deal with all the unresolved issues that have piled up,” the opposition leader said.

“You see, every single day we are losing villages, people are dying, citizens are being captured. We say that Nikol should leave so that we can handle the existing challenges,” Vanetsyan said.

He stressed the need for criminal proceedings to find out all circumstances of the Artsakh war, including of its start, course and outcome.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
