I don’t rule out the fact that our counterparts of the political opposition join our initiative during the discussions. This is what Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan told reporters at the National Assembly today, touching upon the agenda for the special parliamentary session to be held on February 6.

He stated that this bill is aimed at resolving the judicial crisis in Armenia and that the crisis will be solved.

When told that President of the Constitutional Court Hrayr Tovmasyan has declared that he won’t give up and will fight until the end, Alen Simonyan said the following: “I don’t know how far he’s going to go, but I can say that based on his recent interview, he is even ready to do everything possible to make sure the crisis is resolved to his benefit. However, unfortunately, not only him, but also many others are in a situation where there are people who are telling them that they can bring back the past in some way.”

Former president of the Football Federation of Armenia Ruben Hayrapetyan was interviewed under the criminal case of misuse by the Football Federation of Armenia yesterday. This is what Hayrapetyan’s lawyer Amram Makinyan told reporters today.

Hayrapetyan was apprehended today and taken to the Police of Armenia and, according to his lawyer, without any grounds. This is what Ruben Hayrapetyan personally told his lawyer over the phone.

“He only managed to tell me that he was being apprehended and taken to the criminal police. I haven’t been able to enter the police station for the past 15 minutes to see Mr. Hayrapetyan. At this moment, the “official” reasoning is that the head can’t give me a pass since he is out of the office.

The lawyer recalled that journalists have already told him that the Investigative Committee has officially confirmed that the act of apprehension has nothing to do with the criminal case regarding the Football Federation of Armenia.

Ural Airlines has been allowed to transport only Russian citizens from China via charter flights since February, RIA Novosti reported, citing the air company’s press service.

“According to the decision of the Russian government, Ural Airlines has suspended regular flights to China (01.02.2020). Since that day, the airline has operated only charter flights. The applications have been submitted to the Chinese aviation authorities. According to the authorization, the airline has the right to transport exclusively Russian citizens,” the carried said in a press release.

Separately, Kommersant newspaper reported that around 70 citizens of CIS countries were not allowed to board a Ural Airlines flight at China’s Xi’an Xianyang International Airport.

In a statement on 2 February, the Armenian Foreign Ministry said given the coronavirus outbreak in China, a number of international airlines were gradually limiting their flights from Beijing and other Chinese cities. The ministry advised Armenian citizens in China to contact the given airline in advance to clarify information about the flight.

The ministry said on 1 February Ural Airlines rejected registration of a group of Armenian citizens, who were later compensated for the tickets.

“The Embassy and the Foreign Ministry of Armenia are taking measures to prevent such developments. At the same time, we inform that the Embassy is constantly in contact with all Armenian citizens who have been registered and is responding to all inquiries,” the statement read.

Later the Foreign Ministry said that Armenian citizen Susanna Aghajanyan had been evacuated from Wuhan and transported to Kazakhstan upon her own request as a result of cooperation with the Kazakh authorities.

Filmmaker and public figure Arshak Zakaryan told on Facebook livestream about the scandal raised by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at his restaurant in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).

According to Zakaryan, Pashinyan and his family had come to Artsakh this Sunday to meet with their son in the army and had a family dinner at his restaurant. At the end, Pashinyan demanded a cash register receipt, and but the staff noticed that the cash register printer was not working, and this was reported to the Armenian Prime Minister. Upon learning of this, Pashinyan made a scandal at the restaurant, accused the staff of “eating the soldier’s bread,” then telephoned the Artsakh State Minister and demanded to fine the owner of this restaurant, after which Artsakh tax officials came and fined the restaurant.

According to Zakaryan, his restaurant pays taxes with a fixed fee, and not providing a cash register receipt cannot be considered tax evasion. Zakaryan said he is ready to pay a much bigger fine, but he is offended by the prime minister’s behavior and accusing them of “eating the soldier’s bread.”

“Making such an uproar and calling us ‘eater of soldier’s bread’ is just not befitting a senior official, is not befitting the Prime Minister and a men, in general,” Arshak Zakaryan stressed, in particular.

YEREVAN. – Armen Sarkissian should be the guarantor of the Constitution, and if the Constitution is violated in Armenia, he shall react to it because the Constitution in Armenia is violated just so that there be some developments in the Artsakh issue, which we are now witnessing. Konstantin Ter-Nakalyan, a member of the Adekvad congregation, which is holding a protest in front of the presidential residence today, told this to reporters.

The Adekvad members decided to bring the barrels of oil they had brought closer to the presidential residence, but the police disallowed.

The protesters wrote a letter to President Armen Sarkissian expressing hope that he would agree to meet with them.

“We sent a letter to the actual President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian, asking, urging him once again to meet our dialogue request, and somehow get in touch and start those negotiations within the framework of the Artsakh settlement, to withdraw himself as BP shareholder Armen Sarkissian, and to ‘download’ as President of the Republic of Armenia Armen Sarkissian, “Adekvad member Artur Danielyan said.

Referring to the barrels of oil they brought to the presidential residence, Danielyan said: “I hope Armen Sarkissian will at least accept this batch. This is a manifestation of good will on our part, a symbolic step that may have a much more material look in the future. Let’s wait another month until March 1 to see what we’re doing.”

Newspaper: Armenia PM could not reach agreement with Kazakhs

YEREVAN. – Hraparak daily of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes: As early as last month, alarming news came from Kazakhstan for individuals and organizations [in Armenia] engaged in car importing whose [Kazakhstan’s] citizens were the major buyers of cars imported from the US to Armenia in 2019.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, about 95,000 cars were imported into the country only last year, most of them from Armenia, and now the country claims that thousands of transactions made and to be made are expected to be carried out under other conditions, which, in short, means the Kazakhs will no longer buy the huge number of cars accumulated in Armenia, and it is also possible to return the ones already purchased to Armenia.

One of our interlocutors engaged in car imports mentioned that some have started to bring their cars back to Armenia and are trying to demand money from the RA citizens who sold them, and the auto market is in a shameful situation now; once it’s time to pay the property tax, people have to sell brought cars for very cheap price to pay off loans and debts.

Our sources claim that RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has his share of the blame for all this, who, in short, is not perceived by the EEU leaders as a credible (…) person.

The problem, of course, is profound, and (…) real politics also requires closed, often not-so-“proud” conversations with other leaders, which Pashinyan can’t do, and [therefore] thousands of Armenians are actually suffering because of his behavior.

Konstantin Ishkhanov: World must discover Armenian talents

The essence and character of the Armenians is such that they try not to lose sight of any achievement or success of their compatriot, wherever he is. And it should be noted that we have many reasons to be proud of. It has already become a usual thing that we learn about many success stories of our compatriots living in different parts of the world.

However, there are cases when stories and legends about some outstanding personalities spread abroad without reaching the Armenian audience or reaching it in a distorted form. Today’s article is about such a case and refers to one of the most widespread names in the European cultural sphere.

Konstantin Ishkhanov of Armenian descent had to leave his house during the days of the massacre of Armenians in Baku and first move to Moscow, and then to distant Malta. The road was a long one, but during this time an art lover, who had already achieved success in business, witnessed an unacceptable phenomenon for him. There were many talented musicians, some of whom were powerless in the face of a seemingly overpowering reality and got broken of not being able to continue their careers. In an interview about these events, he admitted: “Lost talents are my greatest fear.”

This is what prompted Konstantin Ishkhanov to create the European Foundation for Support of Culture (EFSC) after moving to Malta. The foundation created by our compatriot took on a mission of supporting cultural and educational projects that will coordinate the work of young talents and allow worthy musicians to express themselves on international platforms.

In April of this year, Ishkhanov became the only foreigner to receive the highest national award in the field of culture in the nomination “Exceptional Contribution to the Cultural Life of Malta”.

“Throughout the evening, awards, congratulations and words of thanks sounded in Maltese. There was only one exception. The words of gratitude were spoken in English when Konstantin Ishkhanov, president of European Foundation for Support of Culture, entered the stage,” The Maltese Herald wrote.

In early December, Konstantin Ishkhanov was also awarded a medal for his contribution to the development of musical culture as part of a grand charity concert held in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. The medal was handed to Ishkhanov by rector of the State Musical Pedagogical Institute Valery Vorona.

Having settled in Malta, our compatriot began to actively engage in deepening the Armenian-Maltese relations and popularize the Armenian culture in his country of residence.

“Foreigners are interested in Armenia, its culture. A deeper awareness of this came to me when my son was invited to play at the “New Names” festival in Yerevan at the age of five. Once he returned he showed interest in learning the native language and Armenian dances. After returning to Malta, his first question was: “Can I learn the Armenian language?”, Ishkhanov said.

The foundation of Konstantin Ishkhanov has been engaged in cultural life of Armenia for many years and has been organizing a number of events. These are classical music festivals held in Armenia, and tours of many famous and young Armenian musicians (Hayk Ghazazyan, Nare Aghramanyan, Khachaturian Trio, Armenian State Symphony Orchestra) around the world.

“As an Armenian, I strive to involve my compatriots in all events in Malta as much as possible. Famous musicians are the cultural ambassadors of Armenia in the world. Our rich culture is of great interest in Europe. I consider this extremely important,” Ishkhanov said in an interview.

The main events, that EFSC supported in Armenia last year are the “Contemporary Classics” Composers’ Festival and the ballet “Crystal Palace”, which have turned Armenia into a cultural center, by their scale, uniqueness and the involvement of world-famous guests like Yuri Bashmet, Krzysztof Penderetsky, Karl Jenkins, Alexey Shor, Gidon Kremer.
