It was too predictable and expected. Vigen Sargsyan’s reaction to the Central Committee’s message

Former Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Vigen Sargsyan made a statement that he is planned to be involved as an accused in the criminal case being examined by the Investigative Committee.

“A little while ago, I learned from the press that it is planned to involve me as an accused in the criminal case under investigation by the Investigative Committee. It refers to allegedly violating the procedure for allocating apartments to servicemen by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia.

I believe that disseminating such information through the media before officially informing the person involved grossly violates at least all the rules of morality and decency.

Investigative bodies, without giving me the opportunity to state my position as a witness, are taking steps that clearly pursue political goals. It was too predictable and expected. It is obvious that the main goal of this process is to deliver another blow to the rating of the armed forces and the army leadership of the Republic of Armenia.

I have publicly informed about my location many times, my e-mail, official page and mobile phone number are active, which, I think, are also known to the law enforcement agencies of “new” Armenia.

Since I myself am currently in the USA for the purpose of studies and interrupting the program at this stage will lead to losing the opportunity to complete it, I have authorized my lawyer to contact the officials of the Special Investigation Service in order to represent me in further proceedings.

Thank you to my friends and family for their concern. Both the form and content of the process raise many questions. I am upset, but also calm, because the people related to the history of housing distribution and the process investigated in this particular case, including those who received housing and those who did not, are well aware that the process was carried out in accordance with the requirements of the law, with clear principles and standards. The entire process and control was carried out by the relevant commission, having as the core of its decisions the principle of priority of servicemen who have passed the combat path.

Within a few months, the problem of housing the disabled families of the 1st group and the homeless families of the dead servicemen, who have been in the waiting list for years, was solved, as well as an extremely affordable loan program for servicemen was introduced.
