Armenia is not trying to change the format of the negotiation process. This thesis sounds a lot, but those who voice it are simply not familiar with the negotiation process. RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this at a meeting with journalists.

According to him, it is well known why Artsakh was left out of the negotiation process today, but the Prime Minister does not want to name names. Instead, he reminded that the issue of Artsakh’s participation was raised by him since May 2018 and he continues to insist on that thesis. But, as he also said about this at the joint NSC session, it is neither a whim nor a prerequisite.

“This series of statements is not a challenge, it is an invitation to dialogues, because only through dialogues it will be possible to reach constructive solutions. Moreover, what is being said publicly is not news either to the co-chairs of the Minsk Group or to our Azerbaijani colleagues. We will continue discussions on this topic with our colleagues and will try to continue these discussions in the field of arguments. Negotiations are negotiations in that we listen to each other. Armenia has shown the ability to listen to others and we expect the same from them. Where our partners consider us the position can be assessed as too hard, we can soften that position, but we must have the same expectation from them, otherwise there will be no conversation,” he said.

Pashinyan also said that he does not imagine such a situation when one of the parties declares that he refuses the dialogue.
