Manvel Grigoryan will remain in jail – court rejects motion of lawyers

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 27, ARMENPRESS. A Yerevan court of general jurisdiction rejected the motion of the lawyers of former MP, General Manvel Grigoryan to release him from jail on bail. Grigoryan will remain in prison, ARMENPRESS reports Grigoryan’s lawyer Arsen Mkrtchyan told the reporters after the court session.
“The court rejected the motion”, he said.
The lawyer did not rule out the possibility of filing another motion.
Manvel Grigoryan has been charged for illegal possession of firearms and grand theft.
He was remanded into custody on June 16, 2018.
Grigoryan was stripped off immunity by the Parliament in June 19.
He was released on a 25 million AMD bail on December 21, 2018.
But the former lawmaker has been again placed under arrest on January 22, 2019.
