YEREVAN. – Armenia’s population was 2,972,007, as of January 1, 2018, which is 13,004 less than at the beginning of 2017, the Statistical Committee reported.
According to statistics, urban population in Armenia was 63.8%, whereas the rural population—36.2%, at the beginning of 2018.
During the same period, 47.4% of the country’s population were men, whereas 52.6%—women.
The average age of Armenia’s population was 36.5; this was 34.5 for men, and 38.2 for women.
As of the beginning of 2018, people aged 65 and over made up 11.6% in the country.
And as of January 1, 2018, a total of 36.2% of Armenia’s population lived in capital city Yerevan.
