The world bids last farewell to famous Armenian singer, National Hero of Armenia, Charles Aznavour

The world bid the last farewell to world famous Armenian singer, National Hero of Armenia, Charles Aznavour.

The ceremony took place with the participation of his family members, President of France Emmanuel Macron and his spouce, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Armenia’s President Armen Sarkissian and their spouses, His Holiness Catholcios of All Armenians Karekin II, ex presidents of France François Hollande and Nicolas Sarkozy and many others.

Delivering his speech Nikol Pashinyan said, “I couldn’t introduce Great Master to new Armenia. My consolation is that in his last message to me Aznavour said: “I wish Armenian youth can demonstrate their full potential and make their dreams come true in Armenia.” I am dedicated to that cause. Sleep peacefully, dear Master!”

President of France Emmanual Macron described Charles Aznavour as “the son, the ambassador, the friend of Armenia.”

The French president stressed that “through Charles Aznavour today we have an opportunity to remember what we owe as a nation to all those Armenians fleeing their homeland and coming to  grow ours”.

Concluding his speech Macron stressed, “In France poets never die.”
