Iosif Kobzon dies

Renowned Russian singer Iosif Kobzon, who was sometimes compared to Frank Sinatra and was famous for his crooner style, has passed way at the age of 80. On September 11, he would become 81 years.

On July 27, it was reported that doctors connected the lung ventilation device to the singer. Prior to that, Kobzon was transferred to the reanimation department at the Neurosurgery Department of one of the Moscow hospitals.

On the same day, spokeswoman for Kobzon Varvara Vinogradova said that the singer’s hospitalization was planned and that he had not been transferred to the reanimation department. The singer’s wife, Nino Kobzon, made the same statement, too.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
