Angela Merkel paid tribute to the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide

Within the framework of her regional visit to Yerevan, German Chancellor Angela Merkel paid tribute to the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide at the Tsernakaberd memorial complex.

Merkel went to the memorial directly from “Zvartnots” airport. The Chancellor of Germany laid flowers at the eternal flame of the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide.

Merkel also planted a symbolic fir tree in the alley of Tsitsernakaberd. 

As part of the visit, high-level Armenian-German talks will be held under the leadership of RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and GDR Chancellor Angela Merkel. The Prime Minister of Armenia and the Chancellor of Germany will summarize the results of the negotiations in a joint press conference.
