Yesterday, on July 16, a meeting between RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and First President Levon Ter-Petrosyan took place at the government mansion. This is reported on the RA government’s Facebook page.
The first president expressed his views on ways to overcome a number of challenges facing Armenia. Issues related to foreign policy and the Artsakh problem were discussed.
The meeting took place at the initiative of Levon Ter-Petrosyan.
To remind, just a few years after the events of March 1, the relations between Levon Ter-Petrosyan and Nikol Pashinyan deteriorated sharply. It even got to the point that Pashinyan separated from the ANC faction of the National Assembly and was active as an independent deputy. He also makes rather transparent allusions to Ter-Petrosyan. For example, after Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s famous letter addressed to Serzh Sargsyan, he stated:
“For those who don’t know, let me say that last Friday, the representatives of the RPA faction applauded after the speech of ANC party representative Gagik Jhangiryan in connection with the project I presented, and I assume that this joint position of ANC – RPA emerged through the pipeline of consultation between Serzh Sargsyan and Levon Ter-Petrosyan, which Ter-Petrosyan spoke about in his last open letter. And in general, I want to say that the political forces and figures writing petitions for a meeting with Serzh Sargsyan are for me only a warm memory of the past and I have nothing more to say.”
