RA Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technologies Vahan Martirosyan received US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Richard Mills on August 30.

Welcoming the guest, the minister thanked for the cooperation. “I am happy to welcome you to our ministry. We have quite a successful experience of Armenian-American cooperation, especially in the IT sector, it is gratifying to see the representations of large and small American companies in Armenia, as well as the success of Armenian companies in the American market. I am sure that the bilateral cooperation in this field will continue and will be further strengthened,” said Vahan Martirosyan.

The minister also expressed hope to see research laboratories of American companies in Armenia in the future.

During the meeting, the activities carried out in the field of cyber security in both countries were discussed, as well as the possibilities of introducing American experience during the development of Armenia’s cyber security strategy.

“We have strong bilateral relations in such areas as communication, information technology and transport. It is always gratifying to see the steady development of Armenia’s IT sector. I hope that the Embassy team and your staff will continue to work together to further develop these areas. I also want to thank you for your continued support in expanding the transparency and accountability of infrastructure projects in Armenia,” said Richard Mills.

During the bilateral meeting, a number of other issues related to other spheres of the Ministry’s activity were also discussed.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
