Il Y A 100 Ans La Defense De Van

100 YEARS AGO THE VAN DEFENSE
ARMENIAN GENOCIDE
The Defense of Van (also known as the Siege of Van
or Resistance of Van for the Armenians; in Armenian Õ~NÕ¡Õ¶Õ”
հեO~@ոսամաO~@տ Vani herosamart and ébellion or Revolt of Van
for the Turks; in Turkish Van İsyanı/İhtilâli) is an insurrection
which took place in 1915 against the attempts of the Empire
Ottoman to massacre the Armenian population in the Vilayet of
Van. Several contemporary observers and historians who followed
claimed that the Ottoman government deliberately
incited Armenian armed resistance by imposing terrible
conditions to Armenians, to justify forced deportations
Armenians throughout the empire. However, the decisions of
deportation and extermination were taken before this episode. The witnesses claimed that the Armenian position in Van was
defensive and an act of resistance in the face of the massacre. Based
mainly in the city of Van, this resistance was one
rare cases during the Armenian genocide where Armenians
are defeated against the armed forces of the Empire. The siege of the City of Van began on April 20, 1915. Monday April 20, 2015, Stéphane ©armenews.com
