Armenia’s Foreign Trade Turnover Fell By 30.4% In Jan 2015

ARMENIA’S FOREIGN TRADE TURNOVER FELL BY 30.4% IN JAN 2015

YEREVAN, March 2. /ARKA/. Armenia’s foreign trade turnover dropped by
30.4% in January 2015, compared with the same period a year before,
and amounted to $272.5 million, the National Statistical Service
(NSS) of Armenia reports.

The NSS says the reports are incomplete due to need for adjustments
in EEU trade indicators.

According to the statistical report, exports totaled $75.6 million
(21.9% year-on-year decrease) in January, 2015; imports were $196.9
million (33.2% year-on-year reduction). As a result, negative balance
of foreign trade turnover amounted to $121.3 million.

According to the preliminary information, negative balance in FOB
prices amounted to $$91 million in January 2015.

Armenia’s foreign trade turnover with CIS member states amounted
to a total of about %85 million (share at 31.2%, and decline rate
at 29.6%). Trade with Russia alone amounted to $73 million (31%
reduction), that with Ukraine was $8.3 million (27.8% decline),
and with Belarus about $1,002.9 million (67.7% growth).

Trade with the EU countries totaled about $64.8 million (share at
23.8%, and reduction of 39.2%); trading with other countries amounted
to $122.7 million (45% and 25.3% respectively).

According to statistics, most weighty export items in the period were:
mining about $32.9 million (21.7% growth), non-precious metals about
$18.1 million (28.3% decline) and finished food products about $10.6
million (45.2% decline).

At the same time, imports prevailed under “mining” (about $71.1mln,
19.4% decline), “machinery, equipment” ($17.6mln, 32.8% decline),
non-precious metals ($16.2mln) and “chemical products” ($14mln, 15.1%
reduction). -0–
