It is widely rumored that the authorities mull Hovik Abrahamyan’s
dismissal from the post of the prime minister and his appointment as
head of the headquarters to prepare a referendum for the Constitutional
reform.

A Yerevan-based newspaper “Zhoghovurd” (“The People”) writes citing
its own sources that the authorities sought to repeat what they did in
November 2011, when Hovik Abrahamyan left his post of the parliament
speaker and headed the Republican Party’s pre-election headquarters.

“However, following a meeting with Serzh Sargsyan, it was decided to
leave Hovik Abrahamyan on his position of the prime minister. This
implies his direct participation in the ‘war’ against his relative
Gagik Tsarukyan. Of course, Hovik Abrahamyan may try to persuade
Tsarukyan to leave the politics, but he will stand little chance for
success,” the paper writes.

President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan has decreed that the membership
of Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, in the
National Security Council is considered null and void

Earlier, speaking at the Republican Party Council meeting,
Serzh Sargsyan levered harsh criticism at Tsarukyan for his
‘pseudo-political’ activity, saying he would be excluded from the
Security Council, because “the supreme security body of the country
is not a cinema where one can come and leave when he wants.”

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
