The Moscow City Court has adjourned to February 11 the hearing on
appealing the extension of house arrest of Armenian businessman and
benefactor Levon Hayrapetyan, RIA Novosti reported.

The hearing was scheduled for Monday. Levon Hayrapetyan was released
from the isolation ward and placed under house arrest, but the defense
petitioned to release the businessman on bail or on signature bond.

The Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia arrested Levon
Hayrapetyan, one of the wealthiest representatives of the Armenian
Diaspora in the world on July 15, 2014. The arrest took place as part
of an ongoing investigation conducted by the Russian Investigatory
Committee into the activities of one of the local criminal groups. On
July 24, the Investigation Committee of Russia brought charges against
Levon Hayrapetyan for embezzlement (Article 160) and money laundering
(Article 174).

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
