The largest-scale project of 2015 is creating engineering laboratories
in all schools, Karen Vardanyan, Executive Director of the Union of
Information Technology Enterprises (UITE), told Tert.am as he spoke of
the UITE-planned projects for this year.

“The project is expected to have essential influence on the market and
treble labor force during following years. We may see the results in
2020-2022,” Mr Vardanyan said.

In this context, he pointed out the new law on support to start-ups.

“I think we should make efforts to promote the Armenian brand. That
is, we have to explain ‘why it is Armenia’ for our partners working
here to be able to answer the question.”

With regard the growth expected this year, Mr Vardanyan said:

“Growth depends on your revolutionary changes. For example, Belarus’
IT sector has ensured annual growth of about 100% for the past five
years. We are not so purposeful, but relevant work is in progress.”

He points out young people’s interest in information technologies.

Armenia’s IT sector is capable of competing abroad as well.

“At least half of our 12,000 IT sector workers export their products
to the United States,” Mr Vardanyan said.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
