European Parliament

Baku, December 6, AzerTAc

National NGO Forum has issued a statement protesting against the
speech by President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz at the EP
session on November 26.It was noted that the statements regarding the
violation of the rights of the person made by Schulz at the European
Parliament’s plenary session in Strasbourg on November 26 is nothing
but interference in the internal affairs of the country.”Mr. Schulz
tried to create the impression that Azerbaijan generally fails to
comply with human rights. Trying to defend persons accused of specific
criminal offenses, including treason under the pretext of violations
of freedom of speech, press and expression, casts a shadow over the
objectivity of the European Parliament and indicates to frivolous and
politically biased position. “Mr. Schultz has never touched on the
rights of hundreds of thousands of the Azerbaijanis displaced from
Armenia and their homelands in Karabakh so far”, the statement
says. The statement underlines that Schulz is mostly interested in
casting a shadow on the achievements of Azerbaijan, describing the
Azerbaijani people as people away from democratic values: “We, the NGO
heads unequivocally reject Schulz’s biased statements on the country
and call on the European community to put an end to this policy of
double standards.”

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
