The ancient Shushi Fortress will turn into an open-air stage tonight.
Avet Terteryan’s “Fire ring” opera will be staged here on the eve of
Artsakh’s Republic Day. For the second year in a row the Shushi
panorama will be used as a natural decoration.

The final rehearsal was held Sunday. This evening people will have an
opportunity to watch the opera about “war, peace and love” as the
author once described it. The author of the initiative considers that
the atmosphere in Shushi corresponds to the spirit of the opera.

Famous opera singers, the Symphony Orchestra of the Academic Theater
of Opera and Ballet after Alexannder Spendiaryan, the ballet troupe
and other performers are engaged in the initiative that will be held
under the high auspices of First Lay Rita Sargsyan.

The Artsakh premiere of the “Fire Ring” is dedicated to Avet
Terteryan’s 85th birth anniversary.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
