Former Armenian president marks 60th birthday

31 August 2014 – 12:45pm

Former Armenian president Robert Kocharyan marks his 60th birthday
today. On the threshold of this jubilee Kocharyan granted an interview
to the Noah’s Ark newspaper, during which he noted that he did not
rule out a possible return to power.

Now the former president is doing business, surfing, hunting, skiing
and reading.

According to Kocharyan, one of best books he read in the recent past
was “Why Nations Fail” by Daron Acemoglu and James Robinson.

Daron Acemoglu is a Turkish-American economist from the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology. James Robinson is political scientist from
Harvard University. Their book applies insights from institutional
economics, development economics and economic history to answer why
nations develop differently, with some succeeding in the accumulation
of power and prosperity, while others fail.

Robert Kocharyan is believed to be an Armenian nationalist, who once
said that Armenians have nothing to do with “Transcaucasian Turks”.

From: Emil Lazarian | Ararat NewsPress

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
