US ambassador visits Armenia MOD

YEREVAN. – Armenian First Deputy Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan on
Friday met with US Ambassador John Heffern, and members of an expert
group, from the UN and the Kansas Army National Guard, which is
conducting a workshop at the Ministry of Defense (MOD) of Armenia.

The interlocutors discussed Armenia’s participation in the UN
peacekeeping missions, and the upcoming projects within the framework
of the Global Peace Operations Initiative (GPOI), the Armenia MOD
press service informed.

GPOI is a US Government-funded security assistance program intended to
enhance international capacity to effectively conduct United Nations
and regional peace support operations. Armenia’s membership to this
program was approved in 2013.
