ARMENIA HIGHLY APPRECIATES IRAQ’S BALANCED POSITION ON KARABAKH ISSUE

YEREVAN. – Traditional friendship binds the peoples ofIraq and Armenia.

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian stated the aforementioned,
on Monday inBaghdad, at his talk with FM Hoshyar Zebari of Iraq.

In turn, Zebari expressed confidence that Nalbandian’s current visit
to Iraq will give new impulse to bilateral collaboration, informs
the Armenian MFA press service.

“The two FMs have met numerous times in recent years, and we have taken
steps to elevate the cooperation to a new level,” the Iraqi FM said,
in particular.

“Traditional friendship binds the peoples of Iraq and Armenia, and
this is a solid basis for the development of cooperation between the
two states,” Nalbandian specifically noted in turn.

In addition, Edward Nalbandian briefed his Iraqi associate on the
ongoing efforts by Armenia and the international community toward a
pacific settlement to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and he highly
appreciated Iraq’s balanced position on this matter.

Following their talk, the Armenia and Iraq FMs held a joint news
conference.

Nalbandian also paid a visit to the Armenian Embassy in Baghdad,
and met with representatives from the Iraqi-Armenian community
organizations.
