Russian language skills competition finalists from Armenia visit Moscow

MOSCOW January 6

– Boys and girls from Armenia who won Russian language skills
competition arrived in Moscow to visit Kremlin Christmas Tree show on
Monday, the deputy chairman of the board of the CIS Youth Union, Arsen
Alexanian, said.

“Ten finalists of the competition arrived in Moscow. This is our New
Year present for children,” he said. “Today they will visit Kremlin
Christmas Tree show. After this we plan to take them on a short
sightseeing tour in Moscow’s centre.”

Alexanian said the Russian language skills competition was organised
by the CIS Youth Union for Armenian schoolchildren.

The competition included two stages – writing tasks and conversation
activities. As a result, the jury chose ten finalists aged between 9
to 15 years.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
