L’astrophysicien Beniamin Markarian (1913-1985) honoré par la Poste arménienne

Le 21 novembre, à l’occasion du 100ième anniversaire de la naissance
du grand astrophysicien arménien Beniamin Markarian (1913-1985), la
Poste d’Arménie a procédé à l’émission d’un timbre-poste en son
honneur. D’une valeur faciale de 170 drams, tiré à 40 000 exemplaires,
le timbre représente le portrait de Beniamin Markarian, avec au fond,
l’observatoire arménien de Byurakan et des galaxies. L’astrophysicien
arménien a réalisé de nombreuses découvertes et notamment les galaxies
brillantes qui portent désormais le nom de Markarian.
