Armenia Posts Lowest Retail Trade Growth In January -August Among CI

ARMENIA POSTS LOWEST RETAIL TRADE GROWTH IN JANUARY -AUGUST AMONG CIS COUNTRIES

YEREVAN, October 9. / ARKA /. Armenia’s retail trade in January
-August this year increased by 1% from the same period in 2012,
while the retail trade across the CIS grew by 5.5 % on average ,
according to the CIS Statistical Committee.

In terms of retail trade growth Armenia was last among the former
Soviet republics. The highest growth of almost 20 percent was reported
by Turkmenistan; Belarus with 19.3% was second, it was followed by
Tajikistan – 15.4%, Uzbekistan – 14.6% and Kazakhstan – 12.5%.

Ukraine reported a 10.2% growth, Kyrgyzstan – 9, 9 %, Azerbaijan –
9.4%, Russia – 3.9 %, and Moldova – 1.3%.

According to Armenia’s National Statistical Service, the retail trade
in January- August 2013 amounted to more than 837.9 billion drams,
a 5.6% rise over the same period of 2012. ($ 1 – 405.75 drams). -0-
