Top Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian is taking part in the Grand
Slam’s 6th tournament (Chess Masters Final) being hosted by Bilbao,
Spain, on October 7-13.
Aronian’s rivals are France’s Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Azerbaijan’s
Shakhriyar Mamedyarov and the UK’s Michael Adams.
The tournament will be played in six rounds.
Aronian, who remained the world’s second best player according to FIDE
for over two years, dropped to the third spot on the latest rankings
revealed by international chess’s governing body on October 1.
