Solidarity action with Syrian people was held in Yerevan, in front of
Syrian Embassy on 6 September. Armenia’s opposition Pre-Parliament
initiative members gathered to express their support for the Syrian
people and the Armenians of Syria.

Members of the Pre-Parliament, filmmaker Tigran Khzmalyan and
analyst Garegin Chugaszyan, read the statement of the initiative. They
expressed their support for the Syrians, and demanded from the Armenian
authorities to ensure the Syrian Armenians’ safe evacuation from Syria
to Armenia, and, subsequently, to provide them with all the necessary
living conditions in Armenia. The participants in the action were
holding Armenian flags and placards “No war in Syria”.

To note, on 31 August President of the USA Barack Obama said about
their intention to attack Syria and at present is waiting for the
approval of the decision by US Congress.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
