ZHOGHOVURD: YEZIDIS LEAVE ARMENIA AT SAME RATE AS ARMENIANS

‘Zhoghovurd’ daily quotes Chairman of the Union of Yezidies of Armenia,
Aziz Tamoyan, as saying that Yezidis leave Armenia at the same rate
as Armenians.

“People emigrate because of unemployment and high prices. The level
of Yezidi citizens’ emigration has not declined. They mostly move to
Russia, also to France and Germany,” Tamoyan said.

He expressed astonishment at the fact the National Statistical
Services of Armenia published incorrect data on emigrants. “These
figures don’t correspond to reality. The number of Yezidis in the
country has declined by about 50%,” Tamoyan noted.
