PROBLEMS OF ARMENIAN CHURCH THREATEN NATIONAL SECURITY – YOUTH ORGANIZATIONS

YEREVAN. – Problems related to church are threatening national
security, vice chairman of Youth NGO Gurgen Simonyan said.

“We are expressing our concern over the situation with the Armenian
Apostolic Church. The church is an exceptional structure uniting
the Armenian nation. By its existence the church provides spiritual
security of the Armenian nation,” Gurgen Simonyan said.

He believes that publication of a personal letter addressed to the
Catholicos of All Armenians was a direct blow to national security.

Patriarch of Jerusalem Nourhan Manougian addressed Catholicos of
All Armenians Karekin II with a strongly worded letter, expressing
discontent at his policy, in particular the case of French diocese
head who had been discharged of office.
