Ex-Minister Blasts Turkey’s War Rhetoric Against Syrian Kurds

EX-MINISTER BLASTS TURKEY’S WAR RHETORIC AGAINST SYRIAN KURDS

Wed Jul 31, 2013 2:51

TEHRAN (FNA)- A former Syrian minister lashed out at the Turkish
government for its rhetoric about a military strike on the Kurdish
region of Northern Syria, calling it a psychological operation.

“Turkey’s military intervention against Kurds in Northern Syria would
be tantamount to aggression against the entire Syria because this
region comprises Arab tribes and followers of different religions,”
Issa Darvish told FNA in Damascus on Wednesday.

Darvish noted that Turkey pursues psychological warfare against Syrian
Kurds in a bid to strengthen the deteriorating morale of the armed
rebels fighting against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s government.

“Under the present conditions the issue of Turkey’s intervention in
Syria will not be nothing more than a propaganda war to boost the
armed rebels’ morale,” he added.

Last week, a senior Turkish politician lambasted Prime Minister Recep
Teyyip Erdogan for his interfering policies in Syria, and said such
an approach will lead to civil war in the Muslim country.

“Prime Minister Erdogan’s policy for changing the Syrian government
will yield no result but exacerbating the bloody civil war in the
country,” Deputy Head of Turkey’s National Movement Octay Uzturk
told FNA.

“Turkey alone is never able to infiltrate in Syria or change the
country’s ruling system,” he added.

Turkey is among the countries that support militants inside Syria.

Ankara provides military training for anti-Damascus militants along
its borders with Syria.

In recent months, thousands of the Turkish people took to the streets
in different cities to protest against their government’s interference
in Syria.

Demonstrators shouted anti-government slogans and held placards holding
Erdogan’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) responsible for
a possible genocide in Syria.

The unrest in Syria began in March 2011.

The Syrian government of Bashar al-Assad says that the chaos is being
orchestrated from outside the country, and there are reports that a
very large number of the militants are foreign nationals.

Militant groups, supported by certain western states and their regional
allies, such as Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey have been trying to
topple the Syrian government for over 2 years.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
