On the night of the 29th/30th July Yerevan Mayor’s office involved
road police against activists of the movement “We pay 100 drams”,
an activist, Gor Arakelyan, told Arminfo correspondent.

He also added that after watering of the grass lawn in front of
the mayor’s office building, where activists go on holding sit-down
strike, employers of the road police came up to the participants in
the strike and demanded to change the parking place of the motor
where activists were sleeping. “The policemen said that the motor
had been parked up at the place where only employers of the mayor’s
office park up. For this reason, it should be reparked up. Naturally,
we refused to do that and demanded from the mayor’s office to stop
“the water war” and not to hinder holding of a peaceful action”, –
he said and added that the mayor’s office has been communicating with
activists only through policemen and promised to reduce pressure of
the grass lawn watering devices.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
