MINISTRY ALLOCATES FUNDS TO REINFORCE 7TH CENTURY DSEGH MONUMENT

Deputy Culture Minister Arevik Samuelyan has informed Hetq that the
Minister Hasmik Poghosyan has allocated state funds to reinforce the
precariously leaning 7th century column in the village of Dsegh.

The crumbling pedestal is the cause for the column to have leaned to
such a dangerous degree.

Last month, when Minister Poghosyan visited the site, she wasn’t even
aware that the monument was under the jurisdiction of her ministry.

During the minister’s visit, Dsegh Mayor Norik Kocharyan publicly
embarrassed the Poghosyan by claiming that he had written to her on
several occasions with no tangible result.

Mayor Kocharyan told Minister Poghosyan that her deputy, Arevik
Samuelyan, had responded he come to Yerevan to look for a professional
organization to repair the tower.

The minister retorted that her deputy would never write such a thing,
to which the mayor shot back, “I can show you a copy of his letter.”
