Yerevan Explains President’S Decision To Miss CSTO Summit By Nationa

YEREVAN EXPLAINS PRESIDENT’S DECISION TO MISS CSTO SUMMIT BY NATIONAL HOLIDAY

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s refusal to attend a recent
informal summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO)
in the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek was not a demarche, Armenia’s National
Security Council Secretary Artur Bagdasaryan said.

“Any demarche is out of the question. The president did not come to
Bishkek because Republic Day was marked in Armenia on May 28, and the
head of state took part in the festivities,” he said at a press
conference on Thursday.

CSTO colleagues were informed of Sargsyan’s decision, he said.

“The president’s decision to miss the state events in favor of the
summit would have provoked more speculation,” Bagdasaryan said.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
