Co-chairs of Minsk OSCE Group to visit Nagorno Karabakh on May 22 – Lavrov

MOSCOW May 21

– The co-chairs of the Minsk OSCE Group will visit Nagorno Karabakh on
May 22, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said after the
negotiations with his Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mamedyarov here on
Tuesday.

“The current status quo is certainly unacceptable,” Lavrov noted.
“Meanwhile, it is unacceptable for all, primarily Azerbaijan and
Armenia, and those who live in Karabakh,” Lavrov said with confidence.

“The status quo means not only the question over the return of the
Azerbaijani territories is unsettled, it also means the economic
blockade of Armenia,” the minister noted. “Therefore, no one should be
talked into the unacceptance of the status quo,” he said. “For Russia
it is unacceptable just because they are our neighbours, our friends,
between whom a long and thorny conflict continues,” Lavrov added. “The
stability and calmness in the Caucasus for us is one of the priorities
of the Russian foreign policy,” the Russian foreign minister
underlined.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
