NEW LIBERATION STRUGGLE 25 YEARS LATER – ARMENIAN PREPARLIAMENT MEMBER

A new liberation struggle is beginning now, 25 years later, Zhirair
Sefilyan, a member of the Sardarapat action group and of the
Parliament, told journalists on Wednesday.

And, like during the Nagorno-Karabakh war of liberation, they are
now enlisting freedom-fighters.

“When we find such loyal ones, we can organize them. But we have
tremendous work to do before, without having much time,” he said. The
Preparliament is holding a rally in Gyumri on Thursday.

“We are organizing a series of rallies, and the main aim is
organization,” he said. The task is to build up a state of new quality,
as Armenia’s incumbent authorities have defiled freedom-fighters’
achievements.

“I would like to call on war veterans, who once unselfishly
participated in the liberation struggle, to join the present-day
struggle,” Sefilyan said.

“Our aim is forming a new political stratum for people to get rid of
slavish thinking,” he said.

He is drawing parallels between the “new struggle” and the
liberation of Shushi. “All of our achievements during the Artsakh
[Nagorno-Karabakh] war were something miraculous. Never before had
Armenian political and military leaders been weak, but the Armenian
people gained victory,” Sefilyan said.

With respect to the initiative of Preparliament, he said that the
time of leaders has passed, and it is leader-groups’ time.

As regards the rallies, he said that they are mostly of organizational
nature. It is only by organizing the people, as well as by uniting
the Armenian Diaspora, that a new victory is possible to gain.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
