Tigran Sargsyan’s Team Not Ready For Fundamental Reforms – Arf-D MP

TIGRAN SARGSYAN’S TEAM NOT READY FOR FUNDAMENTAL REFORMS – ARF-D MP

The reappointment of Tigran Sargsyan in the office of the PM has been
decided by the political majority, while the Armenian Revolutionary
Federation-Dashnaktsutyun (ARF-D) MP Artsvik Minasyan believes that
Sargsyan’s team is not ready for fundamental reforms.

Speaking to Tert.am, Minasyan, referring to the appointment of the
new government head, stressed that the ARF-D has already expressed
its attitude toward the previous two governments.

“Naturally, no other attitude was to be expected. We find that the
country’s social-economic life has worsened during the activity of the
current cabinet, and this team is not ready for fundamental reforms
in the country,” he said.

Before the appointment of the PM, President Serzh Sargsyan, in
accordance with the Constitution, met with heads of parliamentary
factions to consult over the appointment of the PM.

Asked about ARF-D position, Artsvik Minasyan said, “At the meeting
with the president a viewpoint was presented about the domestic life
and it was said that we are against such activities of the authorities
as with it they will not promote serious changes that will bring to
economic, social reforms and break the economic monopoly, will not
promote the creation of free economic competition and which is the
most important – will not increase opposition’s role in the country’s
development processes. As far as there is no such approach we cannot
welcome such step.”

Minasyan said he hopes that the authorities will finally give the
opposition control levers which currently is being refused. Asked
about the possibility of forming coalition and whether the ARF-D has
been made such an offer, the MP said that the joint political agenda
means that the opposition and the authorities have same approaches
over radical changes but it never means coalition.

Minasyan said it means the authorities of civilized and organized
country where the opposition implements oversight and the authorities
are undertaking activities.

“From election to election the voters will see that the opposition
manages to implement an appropriate oversight… It is not about
coalition agreement and opposition may never be opposition being
in the coalition. It is absurd, and we are not going to do it,”
Minasyan explained.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
