Armenia is going to see two presidential inaugurations on April 9 –
the first is that of Armenia’s incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan
and the second is that of ex-presidential candidate Raffi Hovannisian.

According to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), Armenia’s
incumbent president polled 861,373 votes and Raffi Hovannisian,
539,693 votes.

All the citizens that disagree with Serzh Sargsyan’s re-election as
Armenia’s president can gather in Yerevan’s Freedom Square on April 9.

At 12:00 the inauguration of New Armenia is to be held there.

Serzh Sargsyan’s inauguration is to be held at a special sitting of
Armenia’s Parliament.

The Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and Rule of Law parliamentary
groups will attend the inauguration. On the other hand, the Armenian
National Congress (ANC) and Heritage parliamentary groups, as well
as Free Democrats (which got into parliament on the Heritage party
ticket), will not attend the ceremony.

Arsen Hambartsumyan of the Supreme Body of the Armenian Revolutionary
Federation Dashnaktsutyun (ARF-D) told Tert.am that the ARF-D is to
announce its stance during Monday.

The political wing of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) is not going
to participate in the special meeting of Armenia’s Parliament.

Gohar Poghosyan, Spokesperson for Armenian Parliament President Hovik
Abrahamyan, told Tert.am that about 2,000 invitees, with delegations
from about 60 countries, are expected to take part in Serzh Sargsyan’s
inauguration.

Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan is expected to attend
Serzh Sargsyan’s inauguration.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
