YEREVAN COMMEMORATES ASSASSINATED VILLAGE GOVERNOR

Yerevan’s Liberty Square hosted Thursday evening a candlelight vigil
in commemoration of Hrach Muradyan, the governor of Proshyan village,
who was found killed outside his office earlier this week.

The ceremony was attended by a large crowd of people, including public
and political figures, who had headed to the square to pay respect
to the assassinated governor.

Muradyan was a member of the opposition Armenian Revolutionary
Federation-Dashnaksutyun (ARF-D). During the Nagorno-Karabakh
liberation war, he became one of the founders of a special battalion
in Shoushi.

Among the attendees were Armen Roustamyan and Artsvik Minasyan of
the ARF-D Bureau, Tigran Khzmalyan of the Sardarapat Group, and
other activists.

The participants were carrying slogans with the words “Safe Armenia
Sees Heroes Killed”, “Hrach was Killed on Soghomon Tehleryan’s
Birthday” etc.

Khzmalyan told the crowd that they will set off for Proshyan on Friday
morning to attend Muradyan’s burial. He said further that they are
planning another candlelight vigil in the square in 20 days to pay
silent tribute to the governor.
