Azeri president urges world to intensify Karabakh settlement efforts

Baku. March 14

The Armenian position at the Karabakh settlement talks obstructs
advancement, President Ilham Aliyev said in an interview with the
Montenegrin newspaper Pobjeda.

“The unconstructive Armenian position has prevented advancement at the
negotiations. Armenia frequently violates the ceasefire regime along
the contact line, which leads to military and civilian casualties in
Azerbaijan,” he said.

He said Armenia had been ignoring four resolutions on the UN Security
Council on Karabakh and statements of the OSCE Minsk Group cochairmen
on the impermissibility of preservation of the status quo in the
region.

“I think the world should step up efforts towards fair settlement of
the conflict. We insist that the conflict can be resolved only within
the framework of Azeri territorial integrity by norms and principles
of international law. This is the only way to achieve lasting
stability and cooperation in the region,” Aliyev stressed.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
