AZERBAIJAN COMPLICATES ENERGY COOPERATION WITH EU

21:26, 25 February, 2013

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 25, ARMENPRESS: There are some factors that hinder
development of strategic cooperation between Azerbaijan and EU in
the energy sector, Tomislava Penkova, expert of the Milano-based
Institute of International Political Studies considered.

As reports Armenpress, Penkova noted in the interview with
Interfax-Azerbaijan agency “From the viewpoint of EU, Azerbaijan
is interested exceptionally in the energy cooperation and pays less
importance to other components of integration. Some EU officials
have even offered to “use” energy as “a small change” to achieve
progress in reforms in Azerbaijan”.

Since 2008 the Azerbaijani government openly stated that while
exporting its gas to Europe Azerbaijan will take into account only
commercial elements of the future contracts, while EU thinks that
cooperation should include other elements of integration as well.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
