Turkish journalists hosted in Armenian NA spoke about Armenian
Genocide and Armenian-Turkish protocols

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 16, ARMENPRESS: Vice President of Armenian National
Assembly Hermine Naghdalyan on February 16 met with journalists of
more than 10 Turkish press and media agencies. Greeting the visit of
Turkish reporters to Armenia, Hermine Naghdalyan has highly evaluated
the role of such initiation in ensuring the contact between Armenian
and Turkish nations, assuring that every issue even the most
complicated one had to be spoken about.

Armenpress reports, representative of `Hrant Dink’ fund, member of the
delegation Bursu Besermen has expressed gratitude for the reception
and noted that annual mutual visits, organized by the fund gives a
great opportunity for having a progress in Armenian-Turkish relations.

During the discussion one of Turkish reporters expressed its surprise
over the calm and peaceful situation on the streets just two days
before presidential elections. NA Vice President responded that was
the evidence of the great work carried out by Armenia on its way to
democracy. `Years ago, being in different European countries we were
surprised by the peaceful situation in the country before such an
important event. Nowadays the same image is in Armenia,’ Hermine
Naghdalyan commented.

Referring to the issue of Armenia-Turkish protocols, NA Vice President
has notes that not only Armenia and international community are
waiting for the action of Turkey but also Turkish nation is. She also
informed Turkish reporters that Armenian-Turkish protocols remained to
be included in the agenda of National Assembly, despite, numerous
suggestions to remove them. Hermine Naghdalyan has highlighted that
Turkey is the only European country, which keeps its borders closed
for another country and at the same time she hoped new generation of
Turkish society would have another approach to this issue.

Reporter of `Turkish Zaman’ has noted that he, personally, takes
events of 1915 with great sorrow, adding that indeed there is
awakening in Turkish society; new generation has some questions.

Turkish journalist have also interested in issues which are out of
frames of Armenian-Turkish relations, for example about conditions for
women in political field. Hermine Naghdalyan noted that her example
was the best answer.
