Changes are not made in the new French bill that criminalizes the
denial of genocides – including the Armenian Genocide – , and this could
become grounds for the country’s Constitutional Council to consider
the bill unconstitutional yet again. Armenian National Congress France
Executive Director Hratch Varjabedian told this to Armenian
News-NEWS.am.

The person behind the new bill is again French MP Valerie Boyer, who
had introduced a similar bill last year to the French National
Assembly. Just like before, the bill sets a one-year prison sentence
plus a 45-thousand-Euro fine for anyone who denies genocides.

Varjabedian stated that French President François Hollande had
promised that the government will prepare a new bill and introduce it
to the country’s National Assembly.

`We are awaiting the fulfillment of the promise,’ Hratch Varjabedian said.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
