EXPERT: GEORGIAN ARMENIANS SHOULD STAY AWAY FROM POLITICAL PROCESSES

February 13, 2013 – 15:51 AMT

PanARMENIAN.Net – The clashes between the opposition and the ruling
authorities have brought about tensions in Georgia, an expert on
Georgian affairs said.

Dwelling on the political situation in Georgia, Johnny Melikyan said
Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili’s decision to release political
prisoners detained during Mikheil Saakashvili’s term in office
escalated tensions in the country.

The expert further voiced skepticism over the “Georgian dream” to
force Saakashvili to give up power, deeming it hard to make forecasts.

Mr Melikyan stressed the need for Georgia’s Armenian community not
to get involved in the political processes.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
